Big Clubs

Hello there! Hope all of you are doing great and having a wonderful time following the transfer market for football players apart from enjoying COPA and also Women’s FIFA World Cup.

When the other part of the world is busy with million dollar transactions, we on the other hand are excitedly awaiting the 3 big clubs whom will be on our shores soon playing friendly matches with our national team. Chelsea, Arsenal and of course my red, Liverpool FC are scheduled to be blasting our football appetite next week, commencing 13th July. This is the first time we have stretched friendlies with big clubs (usually its tournament format) and also a chance for The KOPs fan to finally see their heroes and club in action.

In 2003 I had the pleasure of watching Liverpool in Singapore in what was a great roadtrip with a bunch of my good friends (VJ, Raj and George). We rode in my comfy Kancil into the island and had a great time watching the game, and also had an exciting time going around the island with almost no fuel and no sight of the 2nd Link to Malaysia. It was an experience that was only recently been matched by another roadtrip to Anfield itself. Izham (my boss), Darren (our mutual friend) and I had a rocking time travelling together, bunking in beds, snoring in harmony and of course felt the KOP spirit in our body tingle in Anfield. We watched what turned out to be the game of the season in 2009. Liverpool – 4 Arsenal – 4. Amazing!!

If you are reading this and you haven’t bought a ticket to watch these games in Malaysia, and most importantly, if you are a fan, I would encourage you to do so. These experiences, especially with your friends, will always be in your memories. That’s how influential sports are in our life. Having said that, don’t forget to support our very own Team Malaysia during this big week in Malaysia. As much as we support our childhood clubs, don’t forget that this is our country and we should be proud to be supporting our Team Malaysia. I will be at the stands with my boy in both my Team Malaysia and Liverpool outfit. Let the stadium roar with the spirit of both!!
